They could actually be very cute, they were given the nickname because of the howls and the kind of noise that they make when they are eating and since they are nocturnal animals they are just few of the creatures who walk the night.
These days, the tasmanian devil is facing a very serious condition. A kind of disease which is cancer-like is affecting a great number of them, that is why people would hear more howling at night. The Australian government is already doing their best to look after this problem.
